Terms of Service
Effective 2026-09-15.
The short version
Play nicely, don't be cruel to the other players, and remember that everything you write and draw is shown to the room. We run these games as well as we can, but we cannot promise they are always up. You are 13 or older.
Who you are agreeing with
JoinUs is made and operated by an individual in British Columbia, Canada. Reach us at info@joinus.games, or Privacy Officer, JoinUs, 56-8570 204 St, Langley, BC V2Y 0T9, Canada.
By opening a room, joining one, or using this website, you agree to what is on this page. If you do not, don't use it.
You are 13 or older
JoinUs is for players 13 and older. If you are under 13, you may not use it. If you are between 13 and the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian should read this with you.
The games
The app is free to play. You join a room with a code, choose a nickname and a character, and play with the people in that room. No account is required, and the app does not need your real name.
What you write and draw
Everything you type and draw in a game is shown to the other players in your room, and is stored so the game can run and show the results. That is the whole point of the game, so please write with it in mind.
What you make stays yours. You give us permission to store it and to show it to the people in your room, for as long as we run the service — nothing more. We do not sell it, publish it elsewhere, or use it to advertise.
House rules
Rooms are small and private, and the people in them are usually people you know. Even so:
- No slurs. The app refuses names and words that carry hate, automatically. Working around that filter is a breach of these terms.
- Nothing illegal, and nothing that harasses, threatens or sexualises another person. Not in a name, not in a story, not in a drawing.
- The host can remove you from their room. A host who opened a room may kick any player out of it, and does not have to explain why.
- Don't attack the service — no scraping, no automated play, no attempts to reach another player's view of a game, and no reverse engineering beyond what the law allows you regardless.
We may remove content and end anyone's access if this page is broken. There is no appeal process; a room is a small thing, and the usual remedy is to start another one.
Your account, if you make one
Signing in with Apple or Google is optional. Use it for yourself only, and don't share it. You can sign out or delete the account from the app's menu at any time. Deleting it removes the account; it does not remove what you wrote and drew in games other people also played. The Privacy Policy explains exactly what goes and what stays.
The subscription
Once it is available, JoinUs offers an auto-renewing monthly subscription that removes advertising from every room you open — for you and for everyone playing in that room, on any device, whether or not they have paid anything.
- The price is shown in the app before you buy, in your own currency, and we will tell you before it changes.
- It renews every month until you cancel, and it is charged by Apple or by Google to the payment method on your store account, within 24 hours before each renewal.
- Cancel any time in your device's subscription settings — App Store settings on iPhone, Google Play subscriptions on Android. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the months you have paid for run out as normal.
- Refunds are the store's, not ours. Apple and Google each have their own refund process, and we cannot refund a store purchase directly.
- If your subscription ends, ads return to the rooms you open. Nothing else about your account changes and nothing you made is lost.
Advertising
Once it is available, the app shows banner advertising, chosen by where it sits rather than by any profile of you. The Privacy Policy has the detail. A room opened by a subscriber shows no ads to anyone in it.
We cannot promise it is always there
JoinUs is run by one person. Games change, games are added, and games can be taken away. The service can go down, and a match in progress can be lost when it does. It is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind — we do not promise it is uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose.
Where this leaves us if something goes wrong
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost content, or for anything beyond the amount you actually paid us in the twelve months before the problem. Nothing here removes a right you have under consumer law that cannot be signed away — and in British Columbia, some cannot.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, and the courts of British Columbia are where any dispute is heard.
Changes
If these terms change, the effective date at the top changes with them. Carrying on using JoinUs after that date means the new version applies to you.
